Why is your per visit cost higher than the
competitors? |
- |
Many customers make the mistake of comparing per visit pricing. We have been in business since 1996 because our customers see excellent results year after year with our four-visit program, ProCare™. Our four-visit program is price competitive with other companies who try to convince the customer they need five or six visits. |
- |
We take two trips across the lawn one for fertilizer and one for
weed control. Companies using a liquid approach spray the entire
lawn once with both nitrogen and herbicide. |
- |
Granular organic, preferred by golf course superintendents, is the
most expensive type of fertilizer. We offer it as part of our standard
service while other companies charge a huge premium as an optional
service. |
What is unique
about your guarantee? |
- |
We are the first company to offer a Money Back Guarantee. If you have a weed problem and you don’t see a noticeable improvement in the few weeks, you’ll get your money back. Most other services say we’ll come back out for additional services if you are not satisfied. This means that they will keep repeating the same services that didn’t work initially?! If you have a massive weed problem, especially creeping Charlie or violets, you may need a sixth visit for weed control only in your first season. If this is necessary, there will be an additional charge, listed in advance on your Service Agreement. |
How do you estimate
the cost for my lawn? |
- |
We are able to estimate your lawn size over the phone by asking how long it takes to mow. You know your price in advance due to the fact that prices don’t change that much even if there is a significant difference between the estimate and actual lawn size. This policy helps keep your costs down by not wasting time visiting lawns that never sign up. |
What is the
process for signing up? |
- |
We estimate your lawn size, get your name
address and home phone number and then send out a customized
Service Agreement and Customer Service Questionnaire™. |
- |
You complete these documents and return them. |
- |
We put you on the schedule and come out for the first treatment
of fertilizer and weed control. At that time we measure your lawn
and adjust your price depending on whether the actual size is different
from the estimate. |
- |
At the first visit we complete a Lawn Status Report ™ that
tells you helpful information about your turf and soil conditions.
This way if you have questions or need advice about particular areas
we have a record and can answer them later over the phone. This
helps us tailor services to your needs without you having to meet
us on the lawn. |
What is a
service agreement? |
- |
It is a document, which is customized for
your lawn showing our services, guarantees and your prices. |
Why granular organic
fertilizer? |
- |
While applying the correct amount of nitrogen (the most important
nutrient) per visit, we put down 200%-300% more fertilizer by weight
as compared to synthetic fertilizers. The reason for the extra weight
is that it contains a wide range of micronutrients that your lawn
needs and thus make look great, but don’t exist in synthetics. |
- |
Synthetic fertilizers are primarily
ammonia-based nitrogen. When these fertilizers are used over a
period of time, there is scientific evidence that shows they
adversely affect helpful microorganisms. |
- |
There is virtually no smell and it contains no
poultry products.
It is slow release. This means it will never burn the lawn and it
is healthier for the turf than fast release. |
- |
It is a recycled product. |
How do you minimize
herbicide use? |
- |
We do weed control by traveling the lawn with a backpack sprayer
that allows us to spray selected areas. This technique enables us
to dramatically reduce the herbicide necessary to get the lawn looking
great. |
How do I keep safe
with this service? |
- |
We use standard herbicides, which, like any tool, can be both helpful
and dangerous when misused. The goal with herbicides is to prevent
exposure. State law requires that we post a sign at every lawn which
has had herbicides applied. The products we use have an entry restriction
of “when dry”. After the area is dry it is considered
safe to use. State law requires us to post a sign, which should
stay, in place for 48 hours. In order to improve your family’s
safety we go beyond state law. Every time we visit we leave behind
an information sheet which tells you how to get the most benefit
from the materials supplied and how to stay as safe. Second, for
a small additional charge we will call and leave a message the day
before each visit. |
Who should NOT use
your services? |
- |
If you are not in the habit of regularly supplementing natural
rainfall with additional irrigation, you should not hire a lawn
service. This is because when the lawn is stressed due to lack of
moisture weed control becomes impossible. |
- |
If you are absolutely against the use of herbicides. Scientific literature, the University of Minnesota Extension service, and our experience supports the tactic of periodic use of herbicides, combined with other cultural practices (proper mowing and watering) is the most effective way to keep a lawn looking great while minimizing herbicide use. |
